Lisa and Stephen Flakemore were in the midst of their travels around Australia when they came across a message in a bottle on a beach at Port Hedland. Inside they found a message addressed to a Nanny Nemo... and as there are no laws about reading "mail" from inside a bottle they read on.
They were touched by Noah's handwritten and illustrated message, so decided to take on the role of trusted couriers to make sure the message found its recipient.
From Port Headland, Lisa and Stephen transported their treasure to Busselton, the hometown of Nanny Nemo.
Once there, they enlisted the help of BIG4 Peppermint Park, who joined in the quest.
With a bit of detective work, staff located Nanny's daughter, who confirmed that her mother did live in Busselton, and a meeting was arranged.
Nanny Nemo was overwhelmed to read the handwritten message from her grandson.
It turned out the bottle and its precious message had been thrown into the water by Noah while in Carnarvon on a fishing trip with his Dad. He had launched the bottle in May 2015 in the hope that his special message would find her.
The bottle floated 870km north then was driven 1855km south over five months to finally reach Nanny Nemo this month.
