A forum at Media House, Melbourne, on October 7 will feature three leaders in their fields to help you plan your way through retirement.
Financial commentator Noel Whittaker, elder law specialist Brian Herd and aged care expert Rachel Lane will join forces, courtesy of The Senior, to provide a wealth of information on these important subjects in the forum, Your Money, Your Care, Your Rights.
Noel Whittaker has helped thousands of Australians transform their financial future with a series of 20 best-selling books, including Making Money Made Simple, which sold more than a million copies worldwide. He is a columnist for major Australian newspapers including The Age and, of course, The Senior.
A firm believer in the importance of financial literacy, Noel says people need to understand the main factor that determines how long their money lasts is the rate of return “that’s the all-consuming issue”.
Brian Herd, of Brisbane firm CRH Law, describes himself as an “ageing but passionate” lawyer. He is regarded as one of Australia’s leading lawyers in the field of elder law.
Brian has extensive experience in legal issues impacting older people, including life and estate planning, estate administration, will disputes, superannuation, social security, retirement living and aged care, incapacity and disability law, guardianship, elder abuse and family agreements. He is a former member of the Queensland Law Reform Commission and deputy chairman of the Queensland Law Society’s Elder Law Committee.
Rachel Lane is the principal of Aged Care Gurus and Village Gurus, where she oversees a national network of financial advisers dedicated to providing quality advice to older people and their families. She is also co-author with Noel Whittaker of Aged Care, Who Cares? and The Retirement Living Handbook.
Rachel has worked in financial services for 17 years and has specialised in retirement and aged care for more than a decade.
