This month marks 16 years since the closure of the front end, or two remaining blast furnaces, at the steelworks. Newcastle Industrial Heritage Associa-tion spokesman Aubrey Brooks said the group had decided the centenary was a fitting occasion for the Men and Women of Steel to march into history.
The reunion will be held on September 26 at Newcastle District Tennis Club, cnr Lambton Rd and Curley Rd, Broadmeadow, from 12.30pm.
Entry is free.
