Enter Dogshare.com.au - Australia's first dog sharing website which allows like-minded and loving dog owners from nearby neighbourhoods to connect with one another and exchange services that benefit the care of both pets.
Whether looking to trade dog-walking duties, vacation sits or doggie day care, Dogshare is a hub for neighbours to share the care of pets without ever exchanging money.
The concept is simple: Members upload an image of their dog with its size, age and temperament and then search other member's profiles to see the "pawfect" match for their pooch and required needs. Through the site members can contact each other directly and organise a meet-up to ensure a good canine and human match.
Founded by busy, working mum Jessica Thomas, after feeling guilty about not having time to take her dog Duke on his twice daily walks, the dog sharing platform is designed on a "you scratch my dog, I scratch yours," basis.
"Caring for your dogs can feel like caring for children and can cost as much," said Jessica who established a sharing relationship with her neighbour where the pair would take turns to walk each other's dogs. The relationship worked brilliantly until the neighbour moved away.
"I discovered that it doesn't require much additional effort to walk or board another dog alongside your own, but it is incredibly helpful to have someone reciprocate this favour," said Jessica.
"Tapping into the growing sharing economy, I created Dogshare as a super-easy platform for loving dog owners to connect and share in providing the best care for each other's dogs."
