Twenty-five marches will be held around Australia with the aim of raising more than $1 million for melanoma research and clinical trials.
Funds raised will go to the Melanoma Institute Australia, which is dedicated to preventing and curing melanoma.
Money raised last year went to the world-first PD-1 Brain Metastases Trial, which is currently under way.
"Half of all patients diagnosed with stage four melanoma will develop brain metastases at some point during their illness," said institute research director Professor Graham Mann.
"Until now, treatment has been unavailable, and as such the clinicians at Melanoma Institute Australia are committed to developing new treatment options that provide potential hope to patients with brain metastases and could be a significant step in finding a cure.
"This year our goal is to raise $1 million to support a national research project that will assist melanoma researchers around Australia to develop the next generation of treatment options."
Australia has the highest incidence of melanoma in the world with more than 12,500 new cases diagnosed each year and one person dying every six hours.
Melanoma kills more young Australians (aged 15-39) than any other single cancer.
