Recycling helps the hungry

TWO not for profit organisations are joining forces in a bid to provide people who can't see a good reason to recycle their old phones with some serious food for thought.
MobileMuster and OzHarvest will provide one meal to someone in need for every old phone received throughout the summer.
The Mobile for a Meal campaign will return for a second year after a hugely successful recycling drive which resulted in the delivery of 60,000 meals last summer.
MobileMuster recycling manager Spyro Kalos said the situation was a win win for recyclers and phone owners as old phones can't be used or sold, but 99 per cent of materials used in them can be recycled and used for future products.
"It's important to remember that mobile phones are not biodegradable and they contain substances and materials that can potentially harm the environment," he said.
