A TRIAL aimed at bringing older Australians back into the workforce will be rolled out at five sites from next year.
Seniors are set to benefit from the $110 million government plan to re-skill mature-age Australians who are being locked out of the job market.
The sites for the career transition assistance program were announced this week by Federal Employment Minister Michaelia Cash.
The five trial regions are Ballarat in Victoria, Somerset in Queensland, across the NSW's central west, Adelaide south in South Australia and Perth north in Western Australia.
Senator Cash said the program, which was announced in the May budget, is aimed at removing barriers for out-of-work seniors.
It will provide people over 50 with help searching for and getting jobs, including computer and information technology training and is designed to keep older Australians in the workforce for longer.
"By making this investment we are identifying and removing barriers that may prevent mature-age Australians from returning to the workforce," Senator Cash said.
The trial is due to start in July next year and rolled out nationally from 2020.
