YOU’RE never too old for romance, with love blossoming in aged care centres around Tasmania.
A social group at SEC Care’s Brighton Day Centre was where sparks flew for Kevin and Barbara Booth.
The pair met when they began attending the group, and 18 months later they tied the knot.
They were married in October at St Therese Church in Moonah with a reception at Brighton Bowl and Community Club surrounded by family, friends and some day centre co-ordinators.
“While the two weren’t looking for love, it seems to have found them, especially so for Kevin, who claims it was love at first sight,” said SEC Care chief executive Helen Pollard. “All of us at SEC Care are so thrilled for them and wish the happy couple all the best for their future.”
Meanwhile at Regis Tasmania Eastern Shore, resident Leon Holmes and his wife Vonda renewed their marriage vows after 58 years.
Joined by family and friends the couple welcomed one of their original bridesmaids to the ceremony.
Love blossomed for the pair after a chance meeting at a bus stop in the late 1950s.
They married on October 17, 1959, at St James Church in Newtown.
The next day Leon headed off to Brighton Army Camp to start his compulsory three months’ National Service. He was still able to sneak out that weekend to visit his new bride.
