IF YOU love a great Australian story, you will be inspired, entertained and moved at the Kimberley Writers Festival in Kununurra, WA, from September 8-10.
Visiting talent includes Australian best-selling author and voice of the outback Fleur McDonald; multi award-winning Indigenous performer, filmmaker and writer Karla Hart; Victorian poet and novelist Lia Hills, author of this year's release The Crying Place; and Singapore Literary Prize for non-fiction 2016 winner Danielle Lim (The Sound of SCH - A Mental Breakdown, a Life Journey).
The festival will mark Indigenous Literacy Day on September 6 with a Great Book Swap where people can take a book to the library in the lead-up to the festival and take home a different book for a gold coin donation.
All funds raised will go to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
The festival ends with Sharing our Stories, an opportunity to listen to Kununurra elders telling their stories at Celebrity Tree Park Gazebo.
Contact Kununurra Visitor Centre on 1800-586-868 for accommodation assistance.
