FROM terrific tea cosies and busy bees to amazing axemen there will be something for everyone at the 169th Kiama Show this month.
Held in the Kiama Showground overlooking the ocean from January 27 to 28, there will be horse and cattle events in the show ring and thousands of exhibits in the pavilion.
In recent years the pavilion has boasted more than 2000 exhibits including vegetables, fruit and cakes plus knitting, tapestry, crochet, sewing, patchwork, art, floral displays, roses, homebrew, photography, porcelain and pottery, spinning and weaving and woodwork.
There's also the chance to check out the NSW Dahlia Championships and to see who will take home the top prize for the state's best rich fruit cake.
Cooking, bee-keeping, felting, spinning, weaving demonstrations will also take place in the pavilion.
Throughout the day and after dark there will be live entertainment including the popular Pet Show and Butterfly Experience, a carnival, rodeo, lumberjack show, Le Petit Grande Circus, ARD Freestyle Motorbike Stunt Team, and a fireworks spectacular.
Kiama Show president Michael Brennan said the show society had found attractions that would appeal to traditional and new-generation show-goers alike.
"Favourites like the cattle section are an important historic part of the show where the farming community can watch the judging and catch up with old friends,'' Mr Brennan said.
"The horse events and world class showjumping on Friday and Saturday draw a crowd as well, and the woodchop competitions on the Saturday attract some of the best axemen in the state.''
