SLEUTHING a rumour can lead to interesting results.
Reported sightings of square watermelons in Japan has led to the creation of a new tour destination for Australian tour operator, Toursgallery.
While travelling in Japan, Toursgallery director Ken Osetroff heard that a local market was selling square melons.
Osetroff says:"We did find them and some even had dimples on all sides to resemble large dice."
Apparently Japanese farmers often enhance their products to create a market advantage with oversized grapes, giant apples and sweet tomatoes just a few of their specialties.
Toursgallery now includes farm and market visits on several of their escorted small group tours so people get to see and sample some of these creations.
