FOR those keen to experience the spectacular natural floorshow that occurs following the flooding of Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre, APT has a new seven-day Lake Eyre & Flinders Ranges small group 4WD adventure.
With a choice of 16 departures in March and April, there will be plenty of opportunities to witness this rare occurrence, brought about by recent heavy rains.
Located in the deserts of northern South Australia and covering thousands of hectares, the Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre water basin is the lowest natural point in the country. When it floods it becomes the largest salt lake in Australia, taking on a characteristic pink hue and creating a natural masterpiece that attracts masses of bird life including white pelicans and finches, and a vast array of flora.
Travelling aboard one of APT’s custom-built 4WD drive coaches in groups of 20 people, the tours will visit Port Augusta, Lake Eyre, Birdsville, the Flinders Ranges, Wilpena Pound, Clare Valley and Adelaide.
Priced from $4495 per person, twin share, bookings made before February 29 will save $600 per couple.
