A DISCOVER Cruising information day in Adelaide on June 1 will also raise money for bowel cancer awareness.
Organised by Personal Travel Managers Philippa Williams, Cheryl John and Karin Tunbridge, the information session will be one of the first events during Bowel Cancer Awareness Month (June 1-30).
Philippa Williams knows the toll bowel cancer can take.
"My father was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2012," she said.
"He recently spent six days in hospital and we all feared the worst.
"Thankfully, it was only a minor complication but it really does make you stop and think about your health."
As most of the group's clients are retirees, Philippa said the information day was a great opportunity to send a message about long-term health issues combined with the fun of a cruising holiday.
"We saw the cruise day as an opportunity to talk about cruising and be part of the Get behind it campaign through Bowel Cancer Australia," she said.
In 2014, more than a million Australians went on a cruising holiday.
Discover Cruising will feature a range of cruise specialists, from small ship expeditions to world voyages.
There will be presentations by APT, Wild Earth Travel, Azamara, Celebrity Cruises, Avalon and Holland America Line.
The session will be held in The Edgewater Room at Mawson Lakes Hotel in Main Street, Mawson Lakes, from 10am-3pm. Entry is free and light refreshments will be available.
