Road trips across South Australia just got sweeter, with new bakery bags dropping state-wide to inspire visitors to explore more of regional SA.
More than 50 bakeries across 10 South Australian tourism regions will be serving up their pastries in bakery bags being distributed as part of an ongoing road trips marketing campaign by the South Australian Tourism Commission.
The special bakery bags feature along popular road trip routes and iconic destinations across the state and will be hitting bakeries as the Santos Tour Down Under races through regional SA, including the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula, Barossa and Murray River, Lakes & Coorong.
The bakery bags encourage potential road trippers to visit the website Road Trips, Itineraries & Scenic Drives | South Australia, a portal that offers holiday inspiration as well as maps and itineraries of the state's six iconic road trips which highlight the best of South Australia and suggest local products and experiences.
Road trips include the Mighty Murray Way, Epicurean Way, Seafood Frontier, Explorers Way, Coastal Way, and Southern Ocean Drive.
The creative marketing initiative aims to promote the scenic drives on offer across regional South Australia and further drive visitation and expenditure to local businesses.
SA tourism minister Zoe Bettison was excited about the bags.
"We all love a bakery stop, and what better way to discover the incredible road trip routes and iconic destinations regional South Australia has to offer than while enjoying a treat from one of our state's many delicious bakeries," she said.
"This is another way we are showing visitors how they can make the most of our state's diverse regions with a road trip everyone will love while supporting regional South Australian businesses."
Uraidla Republic Cafe, Bakery & Brewery proprietor Julie Peter said she'd be filling the business' new bakery bags with delicious, fresh, home-spun breads, pastries, and its take on the typically-Aussie hot goods such as meat pies, sausage rolls and pasties.
