WHAT'S the secret to staying in love for more than 70 years? Just ask Katherine and James McMahon.
The Western Australian couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary recently.
James, 93, and Katherine, 96, married on December 28, 1946 at Perth's St Mary's Cathedral where they first met.
Shortly after they moved to Nannup where they ran a dairy farm for 15 years before changing to fine wool production.
Now they live together at Mercy Place Mont Clare.
So what's the secret to a successful marriage?
Taking the good with the bad and making a commitment to stay in love, says the couple.
"We courted for many years before getting married as we were only able to see each other when I was on leave from the services," James said.
"We have been very fortunate in our lives, and were blessed to have six happy and healthy children, three boys and three girls," Katherine said.
The couple also have 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The happy couple received letters from the Queen, the Prime Minster and a host of Western Australian politicians congratulating them on their milestone.
