MORE seniors can become savvy with online banking thanks to a new program launched today.
Introduction to Online Banking is a new module for the Tech Savvy Seniors program, aimed at giving older people the confidence to manage their own finances online.
It was developed through a partnership with the Commonwealth Bank, Telstra and the NSW government.
Minster for Ageing Tanya Davies launched the module with seniors at Parramatta library.
"With so many aspects of our lives now online, from banking to communication, it's important to ensure that all members of the community are able to share in the associated benefits," she said.
"Evidence indicates psychological and financial abuse are the most common forms of abuse among older people. We hope by helping seniors navigate through the world of online banking it will give them control and independence when managing their money."
The practical sessions will show participants how to navigate online banking screens, view statements, transfer money between accounts and complete other common banking tasks.
Tech Savvy Seniors teaches older people how to get the most out of smartphones and tablets as well as practical information on online shopping and cyber safety.
