A SERIES of videos featuring people living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) was launched online earlier this month.
Created by MND Australia, Life Measured in Moments features a series of moving videos detailing the personal stories of people living with the disease.
Included in the series is Kirsten Harley, who was diagnosed with MND six years ago and her daughter Kimi.
"I'm very lucky to still be here and to have watched Kimi grow into a beautiful, funny, clever, empathetic 11-year old," Dr Harley said.
Perth resident Trevor Newby's story is also featured. Trevor is confined to a wheelchair but continues to enjoy the outdoors thanks to the MND Western Australia transport service.
Life Measured in Moments also introduces viewers to Dr Jennifer Fifita, an MND researcher who has had some significant eureka moments relating to gene discovery.
MND is the name given to a group of diseases in which the nerve cells (neurones) controlling the muscles that enable movement, speech, breathing and the ability to swallow undergo degeneration and die.
The videos were launched as part of MND Week from May 7-13.
