THINK a cycling holiday in Europe would be too hard on the old legs? Well think again because electric bikes (ebikes) are everywhere.
And holiday specialist UTracks now offers ebikes on 80 per cent of its cycling itineraries across the continent.
General manager Kate Baker is a huge fan of ebikes because she says they make cycling holidays accessible to people of varying fitness, ages and experience levels.
"An ebike comes with an electric motor that adds a speed boost as you pedal, giving you a helping hand or a push to get up and over hills," she said.
"As long as you recharge the battery, which can be easily done in a few hours or overnight, you can count on the e-bike to help you when going uphill, face headwinds, want to cover longer distances or simply take a break from hard pedalling."
Five of the most popular itineraries are in Austria, Italy, Spain, Greece and Croatia. The company offers guided and self-guided itineraries.
