IF YOU thought Tahiti was only for honeymooners, think again. Air Tahiti Nui says baby boomers are discovering the islands of Tahiti in droves.
Latest visitor figures show that in the first five months of the year, travellers around the baby boomer bracket (55-74) accounted for about a third of visitors.
While the destination's overwater bungalows are still a big drawcard for couples, Air Tahiti Nui regional manager Australia New Zealand, Alan Roman, said the freedom and value afforded by rental homes and family-run lodgings was attracting different markets.
The airline has return economy flights from Australia priced from $1219.
