NERVOUS about doing a multi-day bushwalk on your own? No need with Tasmanian Expeditions.
The company has an exclusive trek next year along Tasmania's South Coast Track escorted by Caro Ryan, one of Australia's most passionate bushwalkers and outdoor bloggers.
The 11-day, 85km itinerary gives you the chance to get bushwalking and hiking tips from Caro while hiking one of Tasmania's finest long-distance walks.
Having trekked extensively on some of Australia's most remote, pristine and secluded trails, Caro knows everything you need to know on a remote walk, such as navigation, gear and packing, apps for outdoors and ensuring you "leave no trace" when you're in the wilderness.
By the end of the walk you should be confident with reading a topographic map, route planning, route finding, taking a compass bearing, and estimating distance, speed and time.
The South Coast Track is a true wilderness experience taking in remote beaches, towering World Heritage protected rainforests and the alpine beauty of the Ironbound Range.
It begins with a spectacular flight to the remote airstrip at Melaleuca in the World Heritage-listed Southwest National Park. From there, you walk 10-15km a day (carrying up to 20kg and camping at night).
However, the itinerary is flexible, with a rest day built in plus plenty of time for exploring and swimming at the many beaches.
The South Coast Track with Caro Ryan runs from February 18-28 and is priced from $2695 per person (departing Hobart).
