CALLING all crochet lovers! Cruise Express has launched its first Crochet Cruise - a nine-night South Pacific voyage aboard Celebrity Solstice next March.
And 50 bonus balls of quality yarn, valued at more than $200, are up for grabs if you book by October 13.
Designed for beginner and skilled crocheters, the round-trip cruise from Sydney on March 21 offers four relaxing days at sea and four ports of call - the Isle of Pines, Lifou and Noumea in New Caledonia and Mystery Island in Vanuatu.
Two of Australia's top crochet teachers, blogger and pattern book author Jenny King, and Crochet Australia owner Lynda Tomkins, will host onboard workshops.
Guests will make one of five designs they can take home and will also crochet squares for large Dream Weaver blankets that will be auctioned during the cruise to raise money for Learning Links, a charity that helps children with learning problems.
Every Crochet Cruise passenger will receive a welcome kit worth more than $250 containing everything they need to get started, including yarn, hooks, needles, cutters and patterns.
"Hook-up" get-togethers and events including a cocktail function and fashion parade will be organised.
The 2850-passenger Celebrity Solstice boasts three pools, six jacuzzis, 11 dining venues, nine bars and lounges, spectacular stage shows, spacious gym and spa sanctuary, ship-top lawn and croquet area and lots of deck chairs and sofas.
Fares, including the crochet kit and onboard workshops, are from $2290 per person twin share in an inside cabin and $2590 per person twin share in a balcony cabin.
