Hong Kong in a new light

Tuesday, 5th December, 2017

See Hong Kong lit up as never before.

FOR the past 13 years, Hong Kong's skyscraper skyline has dazzled with a nightly multimedia light show. Now, for the first time since it was introduced in 2004, the show has been updated.

The new show, curated by Australian Emmy award winner Richard Lindsay and his globally renowned team, includes dynamic lighting effects accompanied by a new musical score from Asia's leading classical orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

The free nightly 10-minute multimedia light show above Victoria Harbour incorporates a variety of exciting lighting effects including coloured search, laser and beam lights sent out in rhythms from 40 buildings and sites.

The sound-and-light experience runs from 8pm and visitors are encouraged to download the A Symphony of Lights mobile app to tune into the synchronised music.

The best vantage points are Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront outside the Hong Kong Cultural Centre; Golden Bauhinia Square, Wan Chai; and a cruise on Victoria Harbour.

If you're not travelling to Hong Kong but would like to see it, the Hong Kong Tourism Board streams proceedings on Discover Hong Kong's Facebook and YouTube profiles.
