Channel your inner Priscilla and go west

NSW Trainlink will put on a dedicated carriage service from Sydney to Broken Hill for the annual event – a pilgrimage paying homage to Australian cult film Priscilla Queen of the Desert – on September 7.

For three days Broken Hill (Priscilla’s spiritual home) will welcome visitors with a love for outback adventure, colour and fun – Priscilla style.

There will be drag queens and kings from around the country, plus entertainers bringing cabaret, comedy and opera to the outback town.

The festival is hosted at the Palace Hotel, Silverton Hotel and other locations.

The train – dubbed the Silver City Stilleto – will stop at selected regional stations along the way and will carry its very own drag queen, Maude Boat, to entertain passengers.

Festival director Esther LaRovere said the dedicated train service was a great show of support for Broken Heel.

“This is a real win for the festival,” she said. “We’re getting more interest every year and to be able to offer all those queens and partygoers from Sydney to Orange and all places in between an economic and entertaining option to get to Broken Heel is fantastic.”

The NSW Trainlink Silver City Stilleto will leave Sydney’s Central Station early on September 7, stopping at Strathfield, Parramatta, Katoomba, Lithgow, Bathurst, Orange and Parkes.
