ACCORHOTELS celebrates the 90th birthday of Mercure Canberra this month, and to mark the occasion, there are exclusive room rates from $90 per person, twin share.
Guests will also be able to attend a gala event on September 15 that will make them feel like they've stepped back in time to the 1920s with cabaret entertainment inspired by the era in which the hotel was created, and a menu to match.
Guests who wish to attend should buy tickets to the event online early as numbers are limited.
Visit accorhotels.com to book the special birthday room rates throughout September.
In keeping with the theme, there are just 90 rooms available at this rate.
Originally known as the Hotel Ainslie, Mercure Canberra was built in 1927 to provide accommodation for public servants relocating to Canberra to support the transfer of the Commonwealth Parliament from Melbourne.
The hotel is one of eight remaining government-built hotels from the city's first stage of development and is listed in the Register of the National Estate.
It is much loved for its comfortable guest rooms and access to the city centre, which is within walking distance.
The hotel features extensive gardens, comfortable areas for guests including a lounge with fireplace and original features such as etched glass panelling.
The modern Australia Courtyard Restaurant and relaxed Olims Bar and Bistro are other signature features.
