PLANT-based foods, meatless menus and dairy free alternatives continue to take centre stage in top restaurants across the UK.
Now, in the heart of Knightsbridge, the five-star Egerton House Hotel is following suit by launching an all-new Vegan Afternoon Tea.
The family-run boutique hotel with just 28 rooms has risen to the challenge of creating a completely vegan afternoon tea menu, while staying true to tradition with an array of favourites including scones, fresh sandwiches and sweet treats.
There's a choice of fine leaf teas, plus tasty homemade vegan cakes including an iced chocolate brownie, vanilla and coconut sponge, lemon drizzle cake, a fruit and custard tartlet and vanilla cupcake.
The sandwiches feature fillings such as grilled vegetables, guacamole and rocket, chickpea-coronation, cucumber and margarine and tomato and olive tapenade on sun-dried tomato bread.
And, of course, afternoon tea wouldn't be complete without freshly baked scones - plain and fruit - served with a selection of preserves.
The Egerton also offers a Gluten Free Afternoon Tea featuring all the traditional sweet and savoury treats.
