All around the Northern Territory, excitement is mounting for Seniors' Month.
This year's Seniors' Month kicked off on July 30 with hundreds of activities for seniors on offer throughout August - encouraging social connectedness, healthy and active lifestyles and maintaining an important participatory role in society.

From Darwin and Alice Springs to Katherine, Tennant Creek, Barunga, Groote Eyeland and everywhere in between, there's chair aerobics, pilates, scam awareness talks, NBN morning tea and information sessions and move and mingle sessions plus more.
COTA NT chief executive Sue Shearer is excited.
"Seniors throughout the Territory can enjoy a jam-packed fun filled Seniors' Month with something for everyone.
"This is the time to celebrate and socialise, make new friends and catch up with old ones.
"COTA NT is delighted to once again organise and distribute the NT Seniors' Month Calendar on behalf of the NT Government and recognises that the grant funding provided to organisations assists in bringing all these wonderful events to our seniors.
"So, enjoy your month and take care."
The Territory Government is supporting senior Territorians and celebrating their valuable contribution to the community.
Many of the activities on offer have been made possible by the Northern Territory Government's Seniors' Month Grant Round, with organisations eligible for up to $2000 to deliver events and activities.
Organisations from Darwin, Palmerston, Alice Springs, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Batchelor and Borroloola will deliver a diverse range of activities including jewellery making, dancing, computer classes, cultural presentations and fitness classes.
Council of the Ageing NT (COTA NT), the peak body representing senior Territorians, has published the month's calendar of events and will also deliver a range of activities, including Batchelor Seniors' Lunch, Berry Springs COTA NT fifth birthday celebration and painting classes.
Seniors Minister Lauren Moss is looking forward to the festivities.
"Our seniors are valued Territorians and Seniors' Month is an important time to celebrate the contributions they make, their accomplishments and their wisdom," she said.
"This is such a fun and special month for the senior members of our community, with more than 40 of the events on offer made possible by the Territory Labor Government's Seniors' Month Grants."
The complete calendar of events is available online here or it can be collected from COTA NT offices in Darwin and Alice Springs.

Wordsmith. Experienced communications professional. I am a talented writer with a drive to interpret complex information into readable copy. A highly motivated self-starting senior journalist, editor and copywriter trained in all aspects of content production. Writing and words are my passion while I can edit and proof anything. Headlines a specialty. Oh, and I'm not a bad photographer. As a journalist, I can adapt to any writing style. I am aware of the work of public relations and marketing specialists and their needs and I know what is needed to get their message across to journalists. I am a great communicator through social media and just love creating social media conversations. I have a proven track record in helping people and communities solve their problems. My career has been all about telling stories. Storytelling remains storytelling across the gamut of writing, no matter whether you work on newspapers or in marketing. As a journalist, every day is a lucky dip. You have no idea who you will meet, where you will go or what you will do.
