THINK you can handle the world's hottest chilli?
This year, the heat will be turned up at the Childers Festival when attendees can register to take part in an all-new chilli wings eating competition in the small Queensland town.
Competitors will be challenged to eat 10 chicken wings in 10 minutes.
Sound tantalising? Here's the catch: The wings will be smothered in Kiss the Reaper chilli sauce (10/10 on the heat spectrum). Carolina Reaper Chilli is officially the hottest in the world and is locally farmed and produced by Childers Fine Foods.
The four-day traffic-stopping Childers Festival kicks off on July 28, with the chilli wing competition on the Sunday (July 31).
Bundaberg Regional Council acting mayor Bill Trevor said Crescent Street would be transformed into Little Italy, while the famous cane fire tours would light up the night.
Kate Ceberano is scheduled to perform at the heritage-listed Paragon Theatre.
"These four days provide the chance to see Childers in all its glory with behind-the-scenes events including the much-anticipated Long Table Dinner at local winery Hill of Promise," Cr Trevor.
There will also be an afternoon of music at Opera By The Lake with world-renowned tenor David De Vito and The Leading Men.
Childers will showcase its rich history, highlight its multicultural roots and celebrate the talent of local artisans as hundreds of market stalls line the streets on the Sunday.
