At the age of 66, many people are planning for retirement, but Jenny Wilson has just launched her own garden design business.
The Moss Vale great-grandmother launched Planting by Design after completing certificates I and II in business administration at TAFE.
Jenny had been a keen gardener for 30 years. She had the idea of starting the business while she was awaiting knee surgery and unable to get out into the garden.
"I wanted to gain the computer literacy skills to design the gardens on a computer for the client," she said.
"Today, you really have to be online to manage a business but I didn't grow up online like today's generation.
"My TAFE NSW experience was unbelievable; it really helped me manage a computer, understand what running a business was about, and get my head around things like work, health and safety."
Jenny said the business had been steadily growing since its launch in January.
She encouraged other seniors who felt they might have more to offer the professional world to consider giving TAFE a try.
"Don't be afraid to try something new and different, you might surprise yourself," she said.
Moss Vale TAFE business services teacher Nola Peters said it was "wonderful" to see Jenny reach her goal.
TAFE enrolments are now open for semester two, with classes commencing in July.
