Flights to Vanuatu by its national carrier from Australia are set to start again as the Pacific Island country reopens its borders to international visitors.

Air Vanuatu will resume flights to Port Vila from Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, from July 1.

Vanuatu will open its borders to fully-vaccinated international travellers from that date, with no quarantine, and flights can be booked immediately.

Air Vanuatu chief executive officer, Atu Finau, says the border opening is welcome news for the national carrier.

"The reopening of Vanuatu to international leisure travellers from 1 July is a major milestone we have been looking forward to and it will be great to see Australian travellers return to Vanuatu," Mr Finau said.

"Flying with Air Vanuatu means passengers enjoy a warm Vanuatu welcome from the moment passengers step onboard and we are delighted to recommence our services from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne from July."

Paul Forbes, Manager Commercial, Australia said "Australian travellers have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of when they can travel to Vanuatu quarantine free and we are very pleased to confirm that from 1 July this will be possible.

"We expect to see strong demand from Australian travellers, not only those with flight credits, wanting an overseas holiday close to home and Vanuatu offers exactly what people are looking for in a holiday in 2022."
