Dust off those boots, get ready to scoot, Road to Rodeo Longreach has just unveiled its two-day program.
The rodeo schedule includes the Bull Ride (open, over-40s, 2nd and junior division), Saddle Bronc (open and 2nd division), Bareback (open and 2nd division), Rope & Tie (open), Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Ladies Barrel Race, Ladies Breakaway Roping and Mini Bull Rides.
The full line-up of rodeo competitors will be announced in mid-March ahead of the event, which runs from April 30-May 1.
In addition, there will be a knockout country music line-up headed by The Wolfe Brothers. They will be joined by skyrocketing country star Bella Mackenzie, winner of the 2020 People's Choice winner in the Tamworth Country Music Festival; Luke Geiger & Bareback, a finalist in Rise-Up at this year's Winton's Way Out West Festival; and young NSW country superstar James Johnston.
Two local Longreach music-makers will star on stage with the national names: young, rising talent Corinne Ballard and legendary singer-songwriter John Hawkes, who comes with his bullock named Ollie!
The full program can be seen HERE.
On top of this there will be food and wine, low 'n' slow BBQ by pitmasters The Shank Brothers, wine tastings at Brown Brothers' Proseccos Paddock, markets and sideshow alley, competitor meet-and-greet sessions, cooking demonstrations, bush poetry by Scotty the Barefoot Poet, sheepdog demonstrations and more.
The festival is perfectly at home in Longreach, home to stockmen, shearers, sunsets and big blue skies. Located in the heart of outback Queensland, it is a proud rodeo-loving region known for its Stockman's Hall of Fame and long camp drafting history.
