THE Federal Government has launched a public consultation on regional banking and bank closures.
Australians can make submissions over the coming weeks to help the Regional Banking Taskforce better understand the impacts of branch closures on customers, and how they have impacted local businesses, industries and communities, as well as how Australians are accessing banking services.
The submissions will build on the discussions held between senior representatives of banks and other key stakeholders at the Taskforce's first meeting in Sydney on November 9.
The Taskforce co-chairs are Assistant Treasure Michael Sukkar and Senator Perin Davey.
Submissions are invited by email to regionalbanking@treasury.gov.au or by mail to: Secretariat, Regional Banking Taskforce, Financial System Division, The Treasury, Langton Crescent, Parkes ACT 2600.
Submissions close December 18. 2021.
