THE Wolfe Brothers hark back to the era of the cassette on their new album, which will be released on Friday.
Country rock brothers Nick and Tom Wolfe have built up a big reputation due to their honest songwriting, catchy singles and dynamic live shows.
Their fifth studio album Kids on Cassette will be their first to be released internationally through BBR/BMG and the band says it's a party, from start to finish.
The brothers have strong memories of playing the music they loved on cassette as youngsters in the 80s and 90s and the new album aims to embrace the vibe of music from the era.
Lead singer Nick said while the album took three years to record and produce, it had essentially been their whole lives in the making,
"Those sounds that first set us off on the journey and got us hooked on music came from tapes," he said.
"We had boomboxes as kids that we'd make mixtapes on, we had cassette players in our first cars."
Nick said the music on the album was influenced by the band's favourite sounds from the 80s, right up to the present day.
"Whether it be country, Aussie pub rock - which has always been a huge part of our musical-DNA, right up to new sounds and ideas that excite us at this moment, it's all there in some way, but it all started for us on cassette," he said.
The album features a number of collaborations with artists including LOCASH, Amy Sheppard and even the boys' musical hero Jack Jones.
"It absolutely blows our minds the calibre of the talented folks who've joined forces with us on the record," Nick said.
"We're still pinching ourselves that it all happened and they've leant their incredible talent to our music."
The albums' first two singles No Brakes and Anybody Ever reached number one on the country charts..
Third single Startin' Something - a duet with LOCASH, has already landed at number seven on the Country Airplay charts.
