BEAUDESERT man Phil Jordan has a bowls resume to rival the best, with a record 55 club championship titles and 575 representative appearances to his name.
The 60-year-old - who has been bowling since 1984 - also holds the record at Beaudesert Bowls Club for the most A grade singles titles, having won 14 times between 1990 and 2013.
Jordan's career began as a 24-year-old when he started rolling a few down at Beaudesert with a friend after work.
"On the way home we would stop in at the club and have a practice, and it grew from there," he said.
"We played a lot together. My friend Glen Bailey was a member here for 20 to 25 years.
"We won a lot of titles here and outside of the club as well."
Jordan, who friends say has lit the bowls world on fire, was the youngest member of the Beaudesert club when he joined and is now one of its longest serving members.
It was a rarity for anyone so young to be playing bowls during 1980s, and it might see him hold onto the club's singles titles record for a long time.
Jordan said his finest achievement was representing Queensland, which he has done on 72 occasions.
He said representing the state was an honour and he hoped to do it again in the over 60s team.
"I have travelled all over Australia for bowls," Jordan said.
"You can go anywhere and you know people, or you can meet people.
"You just take your bowls with you, go to a club, practice, play games and everybody becomes friends."
Jordan said he enjoyed the competitive nature of bowls and said it was good to be giving back to the sport, having recently become a Gold Coast District selector.
"When dealing with the competition, you have got to be competitive," he said.
"The main thing is, do not lose the enjoyment of the game.
"Once you lose the enjoyment, the fun goes out of the game."
Jordan was also part of an Australian side that won a competition at Darwin in 2006.
