GET out your favourite cups, saucers and doilies, it's time to get together and celebrate the Biggest Morning Tea once again.
The official date for the event, which encourages friends, clubs, organisations and other groups to get together to raise funds for the Cancer Council, is Thursday May 27.
Those who aren't free to celebrate on the day can register events for any time throughout May or June.
Cancer Council NSW Campaigns Unit Manager Jennifer Birks said the organisation was grateful for the ongoing support of the community.
"Since Australia's Biggest Morning Tea began in 1994, millions of Australians have come together over a cuppa and a bite to eat in support of those affected by cancer," she said.
"This generosity enables us to continue our work in cancer research, prevention programs, advocacy and support services."
Participants can host events that suit them, whether they are at home with friends or family, with a local club or community group, in the office, at school or even virtually.
Cancer Council is hoping over 20,000 hosts will sign up this year, helping to reach its fundraising target of $7 million to help Australians affected by cancer.
All donations will help fund Cancer Council's research, prevention, programs, advocacy and support services.
Jennifer said the organisation hoped this year's event would help reestablish community connections following the height of last year's COVID-19 pandemic.
"This connection is particularly important for those affected by cancer," she said.
Jennifer said a recent Cancer Council NSW study had revealed an increase in distress levels among callers to its 13-11-20 Information and Support line due to the pandemic.
She said preliminary results indicated that between June and September of last year, over 60 per cent of surveyed cancer patients and survivors reported feelings of isolation since the start of the pandemic.
