Dark, funny and brilliant; difficult and fuelled by his addictions; passionate about literature and LA noir: Warren Zevon was a complex musician.
He nevertheless crafted a impressive body of work before his early death in 2003, releasing 12 studio albums and 32 singles including his best-known tracks, the macabre Werewolves of London, Excitable Boy and Lawyers, Guns and Money (all 1978).
This month Melbourne singer/songwriter and radio host Henry Wagons takes audiences on a deep dive into Zevon's lyrics, while exploring his often turbulent life and erratic relationships with his family, supporters and the music industry in general.
Wagons says of him: "Zevon, cheekily and charmingly, spins a lyric and winds a melody like no other. Even now, when I'm deep inside his catalogue, my jaw still drops at least once in every song at a random pearl of wisdom. We truly have one hell of a set list to share."
