HE was one of the big stars of Australia's first wave of rock 'n' roll and today, Lonnie Lee celebrates his 80th birthday.
The handsome, quietly spoken teenager held the rare distinction of being a fixture on rival TV shows Bandstand and 6 O'Clock Rock.
He released a string of hits including Starlight Starbright, Yes Indeed I Do, Defenceless, and I Found a New Love.
Age certainly hasn't held back the busy performer who appears regularly with his band The Leemen. His latest album, Back to Base X, is getting rave reviews.
The 15-track album features originals, show classics and songs from songwriters Otis Blackwell and John Marascalco.
Lonnie also has a dedicated 24/7 online radio station, which plays more than 500 of his tracks non-stop.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, he has been regularly streaming live shows on his Rock 'n' Roll Theatre website.
