SHANE Jacobson will host a special evening of online musical theatre themed entertainment this weekend.
The popular actor and comedian will host Keeping the Curtain Up from 7pm on July 18, with proceeds to support the Actors Benevolent Fund of NSW.
The night of entertainment will be presented as past of the Melbourne Arts Centre's Together With You program.
The evening will take a look at some of the best moments from Australian musical theatre over the course of the last decade or so.
Special guests Lisa McCune, Lucy Durack, Alinta Chidzey and Verity Hunt-Ballard will revisit popular shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Billy Elliott and many more.
Performers such as Reg Livermore, Jemma Rix, Hayden Tee, iOTA, Paul Capsis, Esther Hannaford, Eddie Perfect, Kate Ceberano and Genevieve Lemon will entertain audiences.
Co-producer Jon Nicholls said the event was a great opportunity to help actors who had suffered financial hardship due to COVID-19.
"Over the years the performers generously gave their time and talent to make the Helpmann Awards the success they have become," John said.
The Actors Benevolent Fund of NSW will welcome donations, which will be distributed across Benevolent Funds, Trusts and organisations around Australia.
The program has been devised and produced by David Mitchell and Jon Nicholls and will be directed by Martin Croft.
The Arts Centre has postponed welcoming visitors back to its venues in accordance with recent Victorian guidelines on COVID-19.
