IF you love to sing, warm up those pipes - the Permission to Shine online singing competition is here.

Round one of the competition, which is run by Jonathan Welch's Play it Forward, is now open

The first stage of the competition includes three categories or sections - musical theatre, rock and RnB.

Prize money totalling $10,500 is up for grabs and entries for the first round close on June 30.

Trevor Ashley and Bev Kennedy have already been announced as judges for the musical theatre category.

Trevor is often described as "the busiest man in Australian show-business", while Bev is regarded as one of Australia's leading musical directors and accompanists.

Judges for the rock and RnB sections will be announced soon.

"It doesn't matter where you are in the world or what type of music you like to sing - there will be something here for everyone of all ages to get involved in," Dr Welch said.

"Further sections will follow throughout the year, stay tuned!"

The program is open to amateur and professional singers alike and all funds raised will go towards Play It Forward's arts projects and programs.
