THE new Kalbarri Skywalk offers a breathtaking way to view one of Australia's most beautiful national parks.
The new attraction at Kalbarri National Park offers spectacular views of the area's gorges, cliffs, waterways and bushland.
Located at West Loop lookout, the structure's two cantilevered viewing platforms project 25 metres and 17 metres beyond the gorge rim and tower more than 100 metres above the river.
Celebrating the Nanda people
Part of the traditional lands of the Nanda people, the Skywalk also features interpretive artworks created by local Indigenous artists.
Artwork includes a depiction of the Beemarra serpent, which is central to the Nanda people's Dreaming story and has been sandblasted into the path to guide visitors.
Message sticks have also been welded with aboriginal art to make a forest near the Skywalk's entrance.
Exploring the natural beauty of Kalbarri
Kalbarri National park is a six-hour drive from Perth and its national park offers a mixture of coastal and inland landscapes.
It boasts spectacular coastal cliffs, providing a vantage point to view humpback whales on their annual migration down Western Australia's coastline between June and November each year.
The cliffs also offer the chance to view some of the State's most spectacular wildflowers.
Inland sites provide stunning views and a range of walking trails - from trails for beginners, to trails suited to experienced hikers.
Ross Graham and Hawk's Head offer their own lookouts, which are easily accessible from car parks.
Inland visitors can also experience Nature's Window, one of the park's most famous landscapes.
A much needed boost
Australia's Coral Coast chief executive David O'Malley said the attraction would provide a major boost to local tourism.
"The Kalbarri region is renowned for its adventure experiences, both coastal and inland, and the town is close to the unique Pink Lake at Hutt Lagoon," he said.
"An iconic road trip along the Coral Coast Highway to this stunning destination is a worthy addition to any Western Australian holiday."
