A CHARTERED accountant and solicitor with extensive experience in the healthcare industry has been appointed as an adviser to Newmarch House.
The Sydney aged care facility, operated by Anglicare, is the centre of a coronavirus hotspot.
The appointment of Andrew Kinkade follows a demand from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission that the operator appoint an independent advisor or face having its licence to operate revoked.
A statement issued by Anglicare yesterday afternoon said Mr Kinkade has extensive experience in aged care in Australia and the UK and has been contributing to sector-wide preparations and responses to COVID-19.
"He has a track record of managing complex situations and delivering high quality care," the statement said.
"It is this background that gives him an understanding of the support that is needed at Newmarch House."
Anglicare Sydney chief executive Grant Millard said the organisation was "very pleased to have Andrew as an adviser at this extremely difficult time. His skills and advice are appreciated."
Mr Kinkade's appointment is for three months.
