GemLife Bribie Island has launched a free weekly meal deliver service - GemLife Eats - with residents getting fresh, healthy, homemade meals delivered to their doorstep.
GemLife director and chief executive Adrian Puljich said the initiative was developed as a special service to its more than 400 residents, to support them in "staying home" during the current global COVID-19 pandemic.
"The aim is to reduce the stress of trips to the supermarket and make social distancing a little bit easier. At the same time the initiative provides residents with delicious, nutritious meals to maintain optimal health - something that's especially important right now," he said.
"The entire world is going through incredible challenges right now and it's so important we all support each other as best we can. This initiative is one way we can help ease stress and anxiety, plus contribute to the health and wellbeing of our over-50s' residents."
Each week, residents receive a menu with three meal options from which to select two meals per person for delivery. The meals can be eaten fresh or put in the freezer to eat later.
"The response has been fantastic, and the residents are excited to see what each week's menu will have on offer," said Mr Puljich.
The meals are planned and cooked by Sunshine Coast chef Matt Conquest.
"This a great program and I'm really proud to be part of it. I get tremendous enjoyment from working with the community and cooking simple, tasty food from fresh, locally-sourced produce is an absolute pleasure," said Mr Conquest.
GemLife Eats is an ongoing service which will remain in place while all Australians are being encouraged to stay at home, particularly older people.
