COULD your dog's howl be mistaken for a soprano?

Opera Australia is on the look out for a pooch prima donna for its upcoming production of La Traviata at Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour.

Marie Duplessis, the real-life inspiration behind La Traviata's central character, was once gifted a small black spaniel from one of her many admirers.

Opera Australia is looking for a small dog, such as a French bulldog or Maltese terrier to follow in that spaniel's footsteps as a well-loved Parisian pooch.

The dogs must be well-trained, as there will be fireworks, noise, bright lights, thousands of people and lots of distractions. The dogs will also need to be healthy, so they can cross a floating walkway and climb steps on stage.
