TAMWORTH Paceway is set to come to life with racing of a different kind soon.
During the final of the Tamworth Harness Racing Club's annual carnival on January 23, dachshund will feature.
Event co-ordinator Scotty Jon Welsh said the concept had garnered a lot of interest.
"I have sausage dogs myself and I first saw the racing when I went to the Narrabri show last year," Welsh told the Leader.
"It was a lot of fun and I thought it would be a great way to add some entertainment into an exciting night of harness racing.
"So far, I've had quite a few people register to race and I'm hoping there will be plenty more."
Featuring dogs from across the region, the races will have the hounds racing from one human to another.
"One person holds their dog at the start and the other acts as the person the dog runs to," Welsh said.
"At this stage, we look set to be able to run three or four races but, depending on how many entries we get, we can also run more."
Welsh said entry forms were available on Tamworth Harness Racing Club's Facebook page and included free entry into the paceway.
