POWER customers in Queensland are being asked to participate in the Queensland Household Energy Survey (QHES).
The survey has been run annually by Powerlink in conjunction with Ergon Energy and Energex since 2009 and this year's survey will run until December 11.
Powerlink acting chief executive Kevin Kehl said the annual survey helped Queensland's energy businesses better understand customer and community needs.
"This year's survey will provide a valuable snapshot of energy demands with the rise of renewable energy in a period of rapid change and assist with electricity network planning in the short and long term," he said.
"This customer feedback helps us better plan the electricity transmission network and ensure the services we provide continue to meet our customer needs now and in the future."
Acting Energy Queensland chief executive Peter Scott said almost 5,000 Queenslanders completed the survey last year.
He added the majority of Queenslanders were seeking to lower their energy costs, but many didn't know which tariff to use.
There was also a widespread interest in having a digital meter installed.
"We need as many people as possible to complete this year's survey for us to ensure that we plan our networks for the future and deliver balanced outcomes for our customers, communities and other key stakeholders," he said.
The survey takes around 20 minutes to complete and people who fill it out will have the chance to win one of ten $100 eftpos cards.
