MELBOURNE'S Open House Weekend will provide a rare opportunity to explore Werribee Mansion and its surrounding parkland on July 27 and 28.
Parks Victoria will open the heritage listed mansion's doors from 10am-4pm on both days.
The building was the home of pastoralists the Chirnside family in the late 1800s and is heritage listed for its architectural significance.
There will be guided tours of the park's formal gardens at select times - showcasing the lake, grotto, parterre and a number of heritage listed trees.
Tours must be pre-booked due to limited capacity and require a $5 booking fee.
There will also be the opportunity to explore the property's many significant buildings and structures - including the recently restored glasshouse, which dates back to the 1800s and is currently used as a greenhouse by Parks Victoria.
The family friendly weekend will also offer a number of things for the kids to do, including playing with toys in the mansion's children's room and playing vintage games on the Great Lawn.
Parks Victoria's heritage partnership manager Paul Roser said the mansion's staff and volunteers were excited to open its doors to the public.
"Parks Victoria is the custodian of more than 3000 historic places across the state and is responsible for protecting and sustainably managing these on behalf of the community," he said.
