Dr Rick Newton has retired from general practice in Tullamore and written a book, Tree Change - An Innocent's progress.
The book contains humorous short stories with fictional characters based on Rick's experiences moving from Sydney to Tullamore to farm as a novice.
All proceeds from the sale of the book and auction of the original drawings in the book will be donated to The Stroke Foundation and Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, in memory of two of Rick's closest friends from Tullamore, Geof Horsburgh and Geoff Williams.
A launch of the book will take place at Tullamore Bowling Club on Saturday, July 13 from 12.30 pm with camp oven lunches and auction of a selection of the book drawings.
The book will be available for sale for $20.
A launch will also be held at Parkes Library on Tuesday, July 23 at 6pm with drinks and nibbles as well as a further auction of the final original drawings.
All proceeds are for the foundations.

Rick and his wife Barbara originally moved to Tullamore from Sydney looking for a tree change.
Rick has been the solo doctor in Tullamore for many years, and he also runs cattle and crops on his farm there.
He has just recently retired from the Tullamore practice, but continues to work in the Remote Medicine service.
He thought these funny short stories would be an entertaining record of his and Barb's experiences in the country thus far, and wanted to raise money for medical causes in memory of two of his best friends, Geof Horsburgh and Geoff Williams from Tullamore.
Helen Gray
Helen, who created the original drawings for the book lives in Trundle with her husband Mark; teaches at the local Public School, and farms with Mark and her mother, Rene Capell.
Helen also works as an artist when she can! She was delighted to illustrate this very enjoyable collection of short stories.
