THE Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is set to march into Sydney this October.
The renowned Scottish spectacular will present four shows over three days at Sydney Olympic Park's ANZ Stadium from October 17-19.
The performance will take place under a full sized replica of Edinburgh Castle and brings together over 1500 pipers, drummers, military musicians and performers.
The performance features a spectacular combination of music, ceremony, musical tradition, theatre and Celtic folklore.
Producer and chief executive David Allfrey said this was the largest tattoo that had ever been organised.
"We're bringing 320 pipes and drums, 100 highland dancers, 13 military bands with 865 military performers, 40 Scottish fiddlers, 100 strong Australian Federation Guard and much, much more," he said.
"We have searched the world to bring together as many incredibly talented performers as we can."
Dating back almost 70 years, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo was inspired by a show called Something About a Soldier which was performed below Edinburgh Castle in 1949.
The event has become a worldwide phenomenon, with the August performance at Edinburgh Castle attracting a live audience of 220,000 and a TV audience of 100 million.
Performances will be at 7.30pm on October 17, 18 and 19 with an additional performance at 11am on October 19.
Tickets are available from $79 and all retired service people or current Australian Defence Force personnel receive a 20 per cent discount..
