After travelling around the world to tackle arduous treks for charity, Phoebe Harrison has outdone herself.
Recently returning from the El Camino Pilgrims Walk in Spain, Mrs Harrison was proud to announce she raised $11,650 for NeuRA for brain research.
Walking 124 kilometers in five days, she said while it wasn't as difficult as the Inca Trail in Peru, some days saw her walk the distance as if walking from Griffith to Darlington Point.
"It was a challenge. Every day was a challenge," she said.
"But there was beautiful scenery. Very nice walk through forests, farmlands, undulating land, lots of villages and cafes and places to stop.
"It was one foot in front of the other. That's what we kept saying to each other."
Setting out with an original goal of raising $7000 for her selected charity, Mrs Harrison exceeded her expectations by an impressive $4000.
When she hit the $7000 mark with weeks to go, she thought she'd aim for two thousand more. And it just snowballed from there.
Walking the trail to raise money for brain research, a cause close to her heart after the passing of her husband.
Baden Harrison passed away in 2015 from Multiple System Atrophy, a debilitating autoimmune disease of the brain.
She hopes by donating this money, other people can receive the treatment that Baden couldn't, thanks to the research currently being undertaken.
The NeuRA Lighting the Way for Mental Health Camino Walk will go towards young Australian researchers in the mental health field.
To this day the Camino trail is a popular destination for pilgrims, who see the struggle as a path for spiritual growth.
She says it was an incredible experience - but one better looking back on after the fact.
"Hills don't agree with me, seeing as I live on flat land here... but I think my favourite part was walking into a forest and smelling eucalyptus.
"The smell would waft over you, it was pretty amazing."
