Fifteen-year-old pilot stops into Mount Isa on a trip around Australia

In an effort to be the youngest person to fly solo around the country, Solomon Cameron left his hometown of Bendigo, Victoria, with a plan to complete the 15,000 kilometre route in five weeks.

Solomon said the inspiration for the journey came from Angel Flight, an aviation service that assists patients needing medical attention in rural areas.

"While doing this challenge I wanted to raise awareness and funds for Angel Flight," he said.

"Angel Flight is a wonderful charity that provides a wonderful service to many people, I am hoping to raise $40,000 for them."

Having not travelled much of Australia, Solomon said this was an amazing adventure and he couldn't believe how big the country was.

"The country is so big, and it is nice to experience different places," he said.

"The east coast was pretty amazing. Flying along the beaches there were some spectacular views.

"So far I have travelled 7000km and will be heading to Tennant Creek next, before heading to Western Australia and down the west coast."

Solomon's interest in aviation sparked at a very young age when he took his first flight with his pilot father at three-years-old.

At 11-years-old he spent his spare time bike riding to the local airport to watch planes take off and land, and begun dreaming of big successes.

Solomon begun cleaning aircrafts which funded for his flying lessons, before he obtained his license at 15 and planned his expedition.

Solomon said he was not concerned about flying for 80 hours on his own.

"I have done all the training and pretty confident in the air," he said.

"My parents were a bit nervous about the idea but have supported me."
