AS if to prove you can't keep a great music event down, the Pearl Beach Music Festival returns to the NSW Central Coast in June with a stellar line-up of performers.
After a two-year break due to the sudden departure of its program and musical adviser, the traditional June long weekend festival is back with a three-concert program to celebrate the Pearl Beach Progress Association's 90th anniversary.
On June 8, Jane Rutter on flute and Giuseppe Zangari on guitar will perform Tango! Raga! Habanera!, a journey in music where the audience will stroll the streets of Paris, feel the rhythm of Spanish dance, be hypnotised by the mystic charm of India and be transported to the milongas of Buenos Aires.
In the evening, Simon Tedeschi on piano and Sydney Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Andrew Haveron on violin will pay homage to one of the early 20th century's great duo partnerships, Kreisler and Rachmaninoff.
On June 9, Peter Garrity's string quartet will perform a selection of Latin delights featuring the the salon style of the London coffee houses going back to the 1930s, including music by Gardel, Anderson and Villa-Lobos.
A drawcard is the Memorial Hall, which draws many performers back due to its close connection with the audience, something often lost in larger venues.
Tickets are $45/$25 per concert or $120 for all three. A booking fee up to $1.55 per ticket will apply. Book at pearlbeachprogress.org.au/events. Cash and package sales: 0487-444-537.
